Party Prepping Skin Care Routine

Updated: Mar 18, 2020

Party season is officially underway, which means you’re about to experience back-to-back family get-togethers, patio season, festivals, birthdays, and weddings! To help make you look your best, here are some tips to help you glow from the inside out.

I highly believe that beauty comes from within and how you treat yourself, will play a role on how your skin looks. Eating healthy, working out, getting enough sleep, and establishing a good skin care regimen, are all key factors on the appearance of your skin. If you stay ready, you never have to ‘get ready’. But really, skin is by far the most important step to any makeup routine. If your skin is prepped well, your makeup will look beautifully, last longer, and you’ll be much happier with the outcome.

Here are some of my favourite products I love and swear by:

Zo Skin Health Exfoliating Polish: Exfoliates with magnesium crystals for brighter, toned, and healthy-looking skin. I like to use this the night before a big event to get help polish texture and remove dead skin cells. This will allow for a smoother, healthier glow.

Sephora Sheet Masks: I read once that as a bridal skincare ritual, the Japanese like to do facials, double cleanse, tone, and soak facial treatment masks, for more than 90 days prior to the wedding day and I couldn’t agree more with this ritual. Keeping your skin hydrated is so important. I’ve tried so many sheet masks on the market and honestly you can’t go wrong but I would have to say the Sephora brand are great! They are affordable and leave your skin feeling hydrated. I recommend before your makeup artist arrives; you apply a face mask as part of your skin prep. I also love the Charlotte Tilbury dry sheet mask – higher price point but also amazing.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream: When you have a big event to attend, you want to feel like the most glowing version of yourself. Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream is just that – magic in a jar – keeps the skin hydrated, dewy, and plumper!

Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream: A hydration-boosting eye cream that is made with avocado oil and shea butter keeping the appearance of the under-eye area refreshed. Its important to keep your under-eye hydrated to keep it smooth and avoid the look of powdery eyes.

Laneige Lip mask: The hyaluronic acid and minerals form a protective film over the lips to lock in moisture. A generous layer of this soothing mask at bedtime helps reduce flakiness so you can wake up to lips that feel refreshed! I also love to apply this while I’m doing my makeup to prep the lips.
